I researched the two contacts I would like to gain information from through the World Forum Foundation website. Before I decided to try to contact two early childhood professionals, I read information on their programs from their own websites in addition to listening to their podcasts. I am still looking at the websites and reading more into the information that is available through those websites to formulate any pertinent questions I might want to ask these professionals and really decide what I want to accomplish by contacting these professionals in an attempt to not only enhance my knowledge of things that are happening within the field but also gain some sort of cultural awareness about why certain issues come up in certain parts of the world and how similar they are to the things we face here in the United States. I do plan to use the alternative assignment as an additional resource and I also plan on connecting with two of my colleagues at work who have taught in other countries to gain their perspective on education in other parts of the world.
I think one of the main things that makes doing this assignment a success for any one of us is just having a willingness to learn about the different things that other cultures do and why and how this affects their view of children in early childhood and then also having a willingness to communicate the things that you see as similar and different and work together to figure out why and if there is a better way. I think that's what is really important in learning about what happens in other parts of the world in regard to early childhood.
Good luck to everyone and happy hunting!
