I am very interested in early intervention and the benefits and or positive implications it has for young children as they move through their academic career. The main subtopic that I would really like to focus in on is what the implications are for prevention and/or early intervention in regard to the social/emotional development of young children and what role it plays in the successful acquisition of academic information and also to examine what the adverse effects are of not gaining preventative or early intervention services.
My personal experience/interest in the aforementioned subject stems from working with children with disabilities and seeing how teachers have been so rigid in following rules and guidelines in regard to academic standards for these children without ever addressing the social/emotional development of these children even though I believe and have seen what a huge role it plays in the development of relationships with children, gaining their trust and subsequently engaging with them in academic activities.
What I have gained so far in this course is knowledge about the specific aspects of conducting research successfully. It definitely helps me to ask myself questions throughout the process and to come up with answers that pertain to a specific area and in reviewing chapter 2 in the text this week, it allowed me to successfully identify which questions to ask and kind of put together a "cheat sheet" for myself with a formula for success in terms of to conduct research and write a strong research paper.
