Research that Benefits Children and Families—Uplifting Stories

The topic that I would use for research would be that of early prevention/intervention and its implications for the social/emotional development of young children and the implications for later academic success. I think that the positive contributions that can come from this research in terms of how it affects young children and families in providing information about the positive implications the research will also provide motivation for parents to seek these services if they have concerns about how their child is developing. As parents gain more knowledge about the positive implications that these services have for their children especially in getting them assessed it will also create a higher demand for teachers who can provide these services and therefore be able to assess and offer services to assist other children in their development. I think this is a very positive contribution because it is a service that helps to keep children out of being put into special education classrooms and kept in regular education classrooms and this is also important in keeping children integrated with their peers which also supports their social/emotional development.

  1. I think that some parents are afraid to have their children evaluated. they often become very defencive and hard to communicate with. Unless the child has great difficulities in participating in daily activites
